Kolkata, April 5 -- Following allegations by Bharatiya Janata Party leaders that the West Bengal police are preventing people from celebrating Ram Navami, party MP Arun Govil on Saturday appealed to the state government to allow the processions to happen, citing instances of aggression or violence during celebrations.
"I want to appeal to the West Bengal government to reconsider their decision. There is never any aggression in such processions, so why do they think such things? I still don't understand," the BJP MP told ANI.
Mentioning that the whole country "echoes with Jai Shri Ram," the state government, led by Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, should "rethink their decision."
