Kolkata, Oct. 15 -- BJP MP Pratap Chandra Sarangi on Tuesday expressed that his conscience is in pain after meeting the victim, a second-year student of a private medical college who was allegedly gang-raped in Durgapur.

Speaking to ANI, Sarangi stated that the victim has become psychologically weak and emphasised the need to award strict punishment to the culprits.

"My conscience is in pain after meeting her...She is restless and sad. She has become psychologically, physically and mentally weak...Police have made arrests, but there should be a scientific inquiry...Strictest punishment should be awarded..." said Sarangi.
