Imphal, Jan. 28 -- After being conferred with the Padma Shri award, a distinguished Manipuri classical dancer Thiyam Suryamukhi Devi expressed her happiness and said that it is a "matter of luck".
The government announced the Padma Awards on Saturday on the eve of the 76th Republic Day.
In a conversation with ANI, she said, "I am very happy after listening to this. It's a matter of luck that I am receiving this award..."
Born and raised in Imphal West district, Suryamukhi started dancing at a very early age and she has been trained under notable gurus. Her talent has been recognised internationally due to her performances.
