Lucknow, June 22 -- Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav on Sunday announced that if his party comes to power in Uttar Pradesh, a financial assistance of Rs 3,000 would be provided to poor women.

The SP chief further criticised the BJP-led government in the State, alleging a decline in the safety and welfare of women and girls.

Addressing a press conference, Yadav said, "... The situation has become unsafe for women and daughters in the reign of BJP government. Everyday, we hear cases of injustice to women and daughters... If the Samajwadi Party forms government, Rs 3000 will be given to poor women in the state...
