Washington DC, March 27 -- Michael Caine, who played the role of Alfred in Christopher Nolan's Batman trilogy, recalled the surprising transformation of late actor Heath Ledger for his iconic villainous character 'Joker', saying that he was terrified when he saw the actor for the first time in action on the sets, reported Variety.

In his memoir, 'Don't Look Back, You'll Trip Over: My Guide to Life", Caine admitted that Ledger's performance not only shocked him but also boosted the entire cast to give their best, as stated by NME Magazine and quoted by Variety.
