New Delhi, April 3 -- Rajya Sabha Leader of Opposition and Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge on Friday attacked the Union government over the Manipur issue and said that the government has failed to provide a solution.

"Many people died in Manipur, hundreds were raped, homes were burnt, schools and colleges are closed. There is no security there...There is a need to find a solution and the government has failed to provide a solution," Kharge told reporters.

Earlier, speaking in the Rajya Sabha, the Congress chief demanded an inquiry into Manipur violence and asked the central government to table a White Paper in the House.
