Mumbai, April 4 -- Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis Friday backed the Waqf Amendment Bill, which he said defines the spirit of the Constitution.

Fadnavis also alleged that the "biggest" Waqf land scam happened when the Congress government was in power in Maharashtra.

The Waqf Bill was passed by the Parliament after a heated debate in the early hours of Friday. The Bill has sparked sharp reactions and protests from Muslim outfits in several parts of the Country including Kolkata, Ahmedabad and Lucknow.
