Kolkata, June 28 -- Women's rights activist Varsha Mishra on Saturday strongly criticised the lack of women's safety across the country and demanded severe punishment for the accused in the alleged Kolkata gangrape.
Speaking to ANI, Varsha Mishra said, "I always say women are not safe anywhere. Whether it is doctors or lawyers, a character certificate should be issued to professionals before they are awarded their degree. A team should be constituted in all big institutes for this purpose. The culprits must be hanged for this crime."
According to women's rights activist Varsha Mishra, the survivor was subjected to three hours of brutal assault and gangrape, and the crime was recorded on video to threaten her later.
