Pune, March 8 -- Union Minister Ramdas Athawale on Saturday extended greetings of International Women's Day and said that the country will progress and become empowered only when the women are empowered.

The Union Minister also lauded the Delhi government's approval of the 'Mahila Samridhi Yojana' to provide Rs 2,500 to women in the national capital.

"Today, on the occasion of Women's Day, I congratulate women across the country. The country will be empowered only when women are empowered. Prime Minister Modi's government is making continuous efforts for women's empowerment. It is great that the Delhi government has decided to provide Rs 2,500 to the women of Delhi under the Mahila Samridhi Yojana," Athawale told ANI.
