New Delhi, July 1 -- Demanding the resignation of Chief Minister Banerjee over the alleged gangrape incident in Kolkata, Union Minister Shantanu Thakur on Tuesday said that the law and order situation in West Bengal has completely collapsed, adding that the state police has become a "cadre" of the Trinamool Congress party.

Speaking to ANI, Union Minister Shantanu Thakur said, "West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee should resign from her post. They are just hungry for power."

The Union Minister further claimed that as many as 60-70 cases of women's sexual assault have been reported since the Trinamool Congress has been in power in the state.
