Tiruchirapalli, May 15 -- BJP President and current BJP MLA from Tirunelveli, Nainar Nagendran, on Thursday hinted at a possible change in responsibilities for former state president K Annamalai within the party. However, the specifics have yet to be confirmed.

"Former BJP state president Annamalai may be assigned a different responsibility within the party," said Nagendran while speaking to mediapersons.

This comes after Nagendran was appointed the new Tamil Nadu BJP chief, who succeeded Annamalai in April this year. The move to replace Annamalai is seen as a strategic shift to strengthen the party's alliance with the AIADMK ahead of the 2026 Assembly elections.
