Jammu, April 7 -- Union Home Minister Amit Shah is in Jammu and Kashmir for a two-day visit. National Conference MLA Tanvir Sadiq has raised the issue of restoring statehood to Jammu and Kashmir.
"He (Amit Shah) is the country's home minister, and it is his right to address and take cognisance of the security issues facing the country," Sadiq told ANI on Monday.
"The biggest thing is that he promised us that we would give us statehood, and we hope it will happen soon," he added.
Earlier in the day, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Sunil Sharma described Union Home Minister Amit Shah's visit to the border region of Kathua as a decisive step to counter the emerging threats of terrorism in the region.
