Lucknow, April 6 -- Maulana Yasoob Abbas, General Secretary of the All India Shia Personal Law Board (AISPLB), expressed regret at the President's assent to the Waqf (Amendment) Bill, 2025 passed by the Parliament.

"It is a matter of great regret that it has got approval from the President," Abbas stated. He further explained that the board would consult with its legal cell to determine their next course of action, adding, "Now we will sit with our legal cell and based on their advice, we will move forward."

After a bill is passed in the Parliament, it is sent for the President's assent, after which, it becomes a law.
