Jakarta, Dec. 30 -- Transportation Minister Budi Karya Sumadi advised travelers, especially private vehicle users, to avoid traveling back to their domiciles on January 1 and 2, 2024, to avoid traffic congestion on the Trans Java Toll Road.

"We ask to return (earlier) on December 30 or 31, 2023, or if the leave can be extended, you should go home after January 1 and 2, 2024, so that the trip is more comfortable and smoother," Minister Sumadi remarked here on Saturday.

According to the ministry's projection, the peak of the return flow will occur on Jan 1-2.

This is also supported by data from state highway company PT Jasa Marga that projected 140 thousand travelers with cars will return to the Greater Jakarta area during the peak day....
