Padang, West Sumatra, Sept. 10 -- Nearly one-meter-high floodwaters submerged hundreds of houses, including those at a naval housing complex in Jondul Rawang, Padang, West Sumatra Province, on Thursday.

"Following incessant heavy rains since the night of Wednesday (Sept 10), dozens of houses in the (naval) dormitory also got flooded," Commander of the Navy Military Police (Danpomal) of Lantamal II Lt Col Dodi noted here on Thursday.

Floods impacted at least 60 official houses of officers of the Indonesian Navy (TNI-AL), he remarked.

"At around 3 a.m. Western Indonesian Standard Time (WIB), floodwaters rushed in, with the water level reaching a meter in height," he stated.
