Jakarta, Jan. 20 -- State-owned insurer PT Jasa Raharja said it has compensated the families of 36 victims who were on the Sriwijaya Air flight SJ-182 when it crashed shortly after take-off on January 9, 2021.

"As of Wednesday (January 20, 2021), of the 40 identified victims, Jasa Raharja has handed compensation to 36 heirs. The compensation for four other (victims') heirs is awaiting the preparedness of their heirs and will be settled at the very first chance," Jasa Raharja president director Budi Rahardjo said here Wednesday.

The compensation, which amounts to Rp50 million for each heir, is a manifestation of the government's basic protection, in accordance with the Finance Minister's Regulation No. 15/2017, he said.
