Jakarta, April 15 -- Indonesia recorded 6,177 COVID-19 cases, 167 deaths, and 6,362 recoveries in the 24 hours ended Thursday, according to the Task Force for COVID-19 Handling.

The country's total COVID-19 case tally has reached 1,589,359, with the death toll recorded at 43,073, and total recoveries at 1,438,254 since March, 2020, when the government announced the country's first infections, it reported.

The number of suspected cases stood at 58,328 on Thursday, while active cases increased by 352 to reach 108,032. Meanwhile, as many as 74,583 specimens were tested for the virus, the task force disclosed.

Jakarta reported the highest number of fresh cases at 1,330. West Java, which added 1,216 cases, was next.
