Jakarta, Feb. 25 -- Rains lashing Jakarta and its surrounding areas since Monday night until Tuesday morning triggered flooding in several parts of South Jakarta.

Floods inundated several areas in South Jakarta, with the floodwaters of varying depth, the Jakarta Metropolitan Police stated through its Twitter account @TMCPoldaMetro on Sunday

According to the Twitter account, 80-centimeter (cm)-deep floodwaters swamped several homes in the Pondok Karya police dormitory in Mampang Prapatan.

Flood also inundated Poncol, Kuningan Barat, with the water level reaching a depth of 30-50 cm.

Chief of the South Jakarta Transportation Office Budi Setiawan revealed that floodwaters inundated several streets, including Jl Kemang IX.
