Pamekasan, East Java, June 3 -- The government has continued its efforts to expand the role of public information communities (IKMs) in providing added value and spreading public information more broadly, the Communication and Information Ministry has said.

"This activity is also being undertaken to increase positive value in spreading public information through the strategic partnership program with other institutions," Ministry Official Hasyim Gautama said during an online dialogue here on Friday evening.

In the beginning, the abbreviation KIM stood for public information group. However, over time, the word "group" was changed to "community."
