Jakarta, April 20 -- The government has managed to prevent the smuggling of illegal lobster seeds valued at Rp37 billion in Jambi and avert major losses to the state.

"The lobster seeds seized were worth Rp37.53 billion," Head of the Fish Quarantine and Quality Control Agency (BKIPM) Rina noted in a press release received here on Saturday.

Some 246,673 lobster seeds, comprising 235,900 seeds of sand lobsters and 10,773 seeds of pearl lobsters, were confiscated through the combined efforts made by a joint team of East Tanjungjabung Police Criminal Investigation Unit and the Fish Quarantine Station, Jambi Quality Control and Fisheries Control (SKIPM).
