Jakarta, Feb. 25 -- Academic activities at over 150 schools in DKI Jakarta were suspended owing to floods that obstructed access to the schools and their buildings.

Some 159 schools, from kindergarten until high school, have urged their pupils to stay at home owing to floods.

"This is preliminary data. We will deliver the latest information once we obtain it," DKI Jakarta Education Office's Public Relations, Sony Juhersoni, stated on Tuesday.

Based on information compiled from various schools, the floodwaters, measuring 20 to 120 centimeters deep, blocked access to schools.

Data collection by the Education Office is yet underway to confirm information on which schools' teaching and learning activities are halted.
