Cianjur, West Java, May 1 -- The Regional Disaster Mitigation Agency (BPBD) of Cianjur, West Java, has declared a 14-day emergency status for the district following the recent occurrence of ground cracks in Jatisari Village.

BPBD Cianjur head Asep Sukma Wijaya said on Wednesday that the status was declared as the ground cracks impacted houses and residents.

"There were 61 houses and two mosques affected, while displaced families, totaling 67, housed 214 people," he said.

As of Wednesday, no specific evacuation site had been determined because most people chose to stay in their relatives' homes, which were considered safe from ground movement.

However, several shelters were built for affected residents, he added.
