India, Jan. 21 -- The import of urad may extend up to 4 lakh tons till June+ to fulfill domestic shortage, According to Indian Pulses Grains Association (IPGA) country is likely to face 50% shortage in production because of damage in Kharif crop of 2019. Import of Urad quota had raised by commerce ministry by 1.5 to 4 lakh tons till ending of March 2020 by millers and refiners. Govt. may allow free shipments and remove quantitative shipments to meet domestic demand. Govt. has decided to offload 5 lakh tonne pulses from its buffer stock to open markets.
