India, Oct. 28 -- Residents of Wadwani in Maharashtra's Beed district observed a complete bandh on Tuesday, demanding a Special Investigation Team (SIT) probe into the alleged suicide of a 28-year-old woman doctor from their region. The bandh, organised by local citizens and activists, remained peaceful and was confined to Wadwani town, police said.

The young doctor was found dead last week in a hotel in Phaltan taluka of Satara district. In a shocking revelation, she had written a suicide note on her palm, accusing police sub-inspector Gopal Badane of repeatedly raping her and software engineer Prashant Bankar of mentally harassing her. Both the accused have since been arrested.
