India, July 7 -- Clashes erupted during Muharram celebrations in Uttar Pradesh's Kushinagar district on Sunday, leaving an eight-year-old boy injured and several people detained, police said.

The violence broke out as a Muharram procession passed a Shiva temple near Gulharia in the Khadda police station area, where participants allegedly hoisted an Islamic flag and raised slogans, sparking tensions between groups. A purported video of the incident posted on social media further escalated the situation.
