India, Sept. 12 -- CP Radhakrishnan was sworn in as India's 17th Vice President on Friday at Rashtrapati Bhavan, where President Droupadi Murmu administered the oath of office in the presence of senior political leaders and dignitaries.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi attended the ceremony and extended warm congratulations, joined by Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, and former Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar.

The NDA nominee secured 452 votes earlier this week to defeat Opposition candidate and former Supreme Court judge B. Sudershan Reddy, who garnered 300 votes. The election followed Dhankhar's resignation, citing health concerns.
