Sri Lanka, April 29 -- Two accused who were found guilty of attacking a person to death with a sharp weapon in the Gas Paha Junction area in Colombo around 22 years ago, have been sentenced to death by court.

The incident in question had taken place on 08 August 2002.

This order was issued by Colombo High Court judge Amal Ranaraja who delivered the sentencing today (29), Ada Derana reporter said.

Issuing the verdict, the judge stated that the prosecution had been able to prove the allegations against the two accused beyond reasonable doubt.

Meanwhile, the judge also ordered the acquittal of the second and fourth defendants of the case, according to the reporter.
