Sri Lanka, Oct. 27 -- Several spells of showers will occur in the Northern, North-central, Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central and North-western provinces and in the Galle and Matara districts today (27), the Department of Meteorology said.

Strong winds of about 50-60kmph can be expected at times over the Western slopes of the central hills and in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, Southern, Northern, North-central and Northwestern provinces and in the Trincomalee and Batticaloa districts, the Met. Department added.

Meanwhile, the general public has been requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
