Sri Lanka, Aug. 6 -- The second reading of the Sri Lanka Electricity (Amendment) Bill is scheduled to take place in Parliament today.

The Electricity (Amendment) Bill, which was presented in Parliament earlier this year by the government was also challenged in the Supreme Court.

Accordingly, following the hearing of the petitions filed against the Bill, the determination of the Supreme Court was forwarded to the Speaker of House.

Meanwhile, Parliament is scheduled to convene at 9:30 a.m.

Following the commencement of today's sitting, Minister of Energy Kumara Jayakody is scheduled to table the bill for second reading debate.
