Sri Lanka, Dec. 30 -- The Cabinet of Ministers has granted approval to the proposal to implement a project to construct quarters for teachers at 14 selected schools within plantation areas.
At present, 864 schools have been established within or in close proximity to tea and rubber plantations in the Central, Uva, Sabaragamuwa, Western, Southern, and Northwestern provinces. Since the majority of these schools are located within tea or rubber plantations, far away from main cities, principals and teachers face difficulties to access these schools, the Department of Government Information stated.
