Sri Lanka, Jan. 8 -- A new initiative has been launched to prevent cybercrimes, police stated.

The decision has been taken following a spike in incidents of fraud committed using websites and social media platforms.

Police Media Spokesman, Assistant Superintendent of Police F. U. Wootler stated that the initiative is being carried out under the supervision of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID).
