Sri Lanka, Nov. 23 -- A Malaysian national has been arrested at the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) while attempting to smuggle around 5kg of cocaine into the island.
The seized narcotics are reportedly worth Rs. 250 million.
The 25-year-old individual has been arrested by the Narcotics Control Unit of Sri Lanka Customs.
He had arrived at the BIA at 8.20 p.m. from a flight departed from Abu Dhabi.
Customs officers discovered the stock of cocaine concealed inside tins labeled as chocolate and packed in his hand luggage.
Further investigations are to be carried out by the Katunayake Airport Police Narcotics Control Unit after the suspect and the seized cocaine are handed over to them.
