Sri Lanka, May 24 -- UNP MP Kavinda Jayawardena says that he has decided to step down form the Special Parliamentary Select Committee appointed to look into and report on the Easter Sunday terror attacks in the country.

Speaking to Ada Derana, the parliamentarian said that he decided to step down due to personal reasons.

Jayawardena stated that he has had to dedicate himself fulltime for the people and that due to being unable to allocate all his time for this committee, he decided to step down citing personal reasons.

He said that he has informed the Parliament of his decision in writing.
