Sri Lanka, April 25 -- The Japanese International Cooperation Agency (JICA) has agreed to commence the second phase of the Anuradhapura North Water Supply Project, says State Minister of Finance Shehan Semasinghe.

He said the second phase of the project will meet the drinking water needs of 50,000 families in Padaviya, Kebithigollewa, Horowpothana and Kahatagasdigiliya divisional secretariats covering 119 Grama Niladari Divisions.

Posting on 'X' (formerly Twitter), Semasinghe expressed that JICA has expressed its agreement to extend the time frame for providing financial facilities for the start of the second phase of the Anuradhapura North Water Supply Project.
