Sri Lanka, Jan. 5 -- Former Minister Johnston Fernando and his youngest son, Jerome Kenneth Fernando who were arrested by the Financial Crimes Investigation Division (FCID) earlier today (05), have been remanded.

The duo has been remanded until January 09 by the Wattala Magistrate's Court, Ada Derana reporter said.

Former Minister Johnston Fernando and his youngest son were arrested in connection with the alleged misuse of a Sathosa vehicle during Fernando's tenure as Minister.

Previously, police had warned that an arrest warrant would be sought from the court if the former minister failed to appear before the FCID as scheduled.
