Sri Lanka, Nov. 25 -- The highest amount allocated for education in history has been made in the 2026 budget, enabling the present government to formulate educational policies, plans and establish institutional structures for the sector, Prime Minister Dr. Harini Amarasuriya stated. She also emphasized that financial allocations alone are insufficient unless they are supported by a strong institutional framework for effective policy implementation.

The Prime Minister made these remarks in Parliament during the debate on the budget allocation for the Ministry of Education, Higher Education and Vocational Education.
