Sri Lanka, Nov. 16 -- A businessman has been arrested in Kurana, Negombo with a foreign-made firearm approximately 6 inches in length, police stated.
The firearm is a Belgian-made Browning-type pistol, police noted.
The raid was carried out based on information received by the Organized Crime Investigation Unit of the Colombo Crime Division, which stated that a businessman dealing in motor vehicle spare parts in Kurana was in possession of a firearm.
During the operation, police surrounded the suspect's house and found the firearm carefully hidden in a room.
During questioning, the arrested businessman claimed that the firearm had been given to him by his late father.
The suspect is a 44-year-old individual.
