Sri Lanka, Sept. 14 -- An accomplice of underworld figure 'Backhoe Saman', who was arrested yesterday (13) along with a T-81 assault rifle, has been remanded, Ada Derana reporter said.

He was remanded until September 24.

The individual was arrested by the North Western Crimes Division in Embilipitiya on charges of transporting and being in possession of a firearm of 'Backhoe Saman'.

Police have identified the suspect as a resident of the Gangeyaya area in Embilipitiya.

During the arrest, police recovered a T81-type firearm, 97 bullets, two magazines and a military uniform from his possession.
