Manama, Sept. 17 -- The Ministry of Health Bahrain on Wednesday has recorded 841 of the COVID-19 positive cases, the highest ever number in a single day so far.

As warned by the authorities earlier about the possible spike in the number of infections due to social and religious gatherings in the past three weeks, 716 detected cases were contact cases of the total single day tally of infections.

Out of 12299 COVID-19 tests carried out on 16 September 2020, 841 new cases have been detected among 124 expatriate workers, 716 new cases are contacts of active cases, and 1 is travel related. There were 613 recoveries from the COVID-19, increasing total recoveries to 55444, the Ministry of Health confirms on its website.
