Manama, July 26 -- Bahrain's total deaths from the COVID-19 surged to 139 as of afternoon on Sunday, 26th, July 2020.

Out of 8581 COVID-19 tests carried out on 25 July 2020, 289 new cases have been detected among 151 expatriate workers, 138 new cases are contacts of active cases. There were 379 recoveries from the COVID-19, total recoveries were 35205, the Ministry of health announced.

The spike in deaths and number of cases is largely attributable to a deliberate non-compliance of the health and safety guidelines developed and implemented by the authorities.

The non-compliance of precautionary measures issued by the Ministry of Health has enhanced the possibility of spreading of the virus among citizens at an alarming level.
