Rabat, Jan. 23 -- Morocco received 12.3 million tourists last year, up 8 percent from the previous year, said Adil El Fakir, general director of the Moroccan National Tourist Office (ONMT), on Tuesday.

Speaking at a presentation in Casablanca on Moroccan tourism achievements, El Fakir said that tourist arrivals in Morocco totalled 11.3 million in the first 11 months of 2018, an average of one million tourist per month and an increase of 8.5 percent compared to 2017.

Between 2000 and 2018, Morocco has averaged an annual growth of 6 percent in tourism arrivals, which is two points higher than global tourism growth, he added.
