New Delhi, Jan. 29 -- Ministry of Defence has been allocated Rs 6.81 lakh crore in the Union Budget 2025-26, in pursuance of PM Modi led Government's vision of Viksit Bharat@2047 with a technologically advanced and Aatmanirbhar Armed Forces. This allocation is 9.53% more than the Budgetary Estimate of FY 2024-25 and stands at 13.45% of the Union Budget, which is the highest among the Ministries.

Out of the total defence budget, Rs 1.80 lakh crore have been allocated for Capital Outlay. Rs 1.12 lakh crore i.e. 75% of modernisation budget has been earmarked for procurement through domestic sources and 25% of domestic share i.e. around Rs 28,000 crore has been provisioned for procurement through domestic private industries.
