ALEXANDRIA, Va., Sept. 10 -- United States Patent no. 12,409,242, issued on Sept. 9, was assigned to Zodiac Cabin Controls GmbH (Hamburg, Germany).
"Far-UVC, narrow-band of disinfecting light, used in aircraft cabin" was invented by Arnaud Jacques Namer (Torrance, Calif.), Volker Antonczyk (Hamburg, Germany), Michael Gluck (Hamburg, Germany) and Michael Paul (Hamburg, Germany).
According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "Systems and methods for disinfection of aircraft cabins, including galleys and lavatories. The embodiments may use UVC light sources having a wavelength between 200-230 nm for efficiently inactivating pathogens without harm to exposed mammalian skin or eyes."
