ALEXANDRIA, Va., March 26 -- United States Patent no. 12,257,248, issued on March 25, was assigned to University of South Florida (Tampa, Fla.) and Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey (New Brunswick, N.J.).

"Bronchodilators for treating obstructive lung disease" was invented by Stephen Liggett (Tampa, Fla.), James Leahy (Tampa, Fla.), Donghwa Kim (Tampa, Fla.) and Steven An (Highland Park, N.J.).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "Disclosed herein are compounds useful for treating obstructive lung diseases. The compounds are TAS2Rs agonists and may further be used to treat disorders and conditions implicated by TAS2R. In some instances the disclosed compounds can be used to treat asthma." ...
