ALEXANDRIA, Va., June 19 -- United States Patent no. 12,329,730, issued on June 17, was assigned to University of Pittsburgh-Of the Commonweatlh System of Higher Education (Pittsburgh).

"Thermoresponsive hydrogel containing polymer microparticles for controlled drug delivery" was invented by Morgan V. DiLeo (Mars, Pa.), Steven R. Little (Allison Park, Pa.) and Joel S. Schuman (New York).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "Methods for treating an ear condition in a subject, comprising topically administering to the ear of the subject in need thereof a composition comprising: (i) an anti-infective agent-loaded biodegradable polymer microspheres; and (ii) a thermoresponsive hydrogel."
