ALEXANDRIA, Va., June 6 -- United States Patent no. 12,280,195, issued on April 22, was assigned to University of Pittsburgh-Of the Commonwealth System of Higher Education (Pittsburgh) and Ri.MED Foundation (Palermo, Italy).
"Expandable percutaneous cannula" was invented by Vinay Badhwar (Washington, Pa.), Antonio D'Amore (Pittsburgh), Daniel McKeel (Pittsburgh) and William R. Wagner (Gibsonia, Pa.).
