ALEXANDRIA, Va., April 9 -- United States Patent no. 12,268,901, issued on April 8, was assigned to University of Massachusetts (Westborough, Mass.).
"Targeting cell tropism receptors to inhibit cytomegalovirus infection" was invented by Timothy F. Kowalik (Princeton, Mass.), Xiaofei E (Westborough, Mass.) and Abraham L Brass (Newton, Mass.).
According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "Methods for treating or reducing the risk of a cytomegalovirus infection in a subject that include administering one or more of an inhibitor of Deleted in Malignant Brain Tumors 1 (DMBT1), an inhibitor of OR14I1, or an inhibitor of adenylyl cyclases."
