ALEXANDRIA, Va., Aug. 12 -- United States Patent no. 12,383,686, issued on Aug. 12, was assigned to University of Maryland (Baltimore) and University of Maryland, College Park (College Park, Md.).

"Percutaneous dilation tracheostomy device and method of using" was invented by Joseph Rabin (Silver Spring, Md.), Conor Bloomer (Exeter, N.J.), Paige Chan (Olney, Md.), Scott Kivitz (Olney, Md.), Peter Chen (Clarksburg, Md.) and Torrance Wang (Boyds, Md.).
