US Patent Issued to UNIQURE BIOPHARMA on Feb. 10 for "Methods and means for the prevention and/or treatment of hemophilic arthropathy in hemophilia" (Dutch Inventor)

ALEXANDRIA, Va., Feb. 11 -- United States Patent no. 12,544,459, issued on Feb. 10, was assigned to UNIQURE BIOPHARMA B.V. (Amsterdam).

"Methods and means for the prevention and/or treatment of hemophilic arthropathy in hemophilia" was invented by Ellen Broug-Holub (Amsterdam).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "The invention relates to a gene therapy vehicle for use in preventing, arresting and/or treating hemophilic arthropathy of a joint in a patient having hemophilia B, where the gene therapy vehicle comprises a nucleic acid that encodes a coagulation factor having Factor IX activity."

The patent was filed on Feb. 6, 2025, under Application No. 19/046,845.
