ALEXANDRIA, Va., Nov. 18 -- United States Patent no. 12,472,213, issued on Nov. 18, was assigned to Trustees of Tufts College (Boston).

"Strains of Lactobacillus delbrueckii which inhibit Porphyromonas gingivalis" was invented by Linden Hu (Sharon, Mass.) and Louis Cornacchione (Cambridge, Mass.).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "Disclosed herein are compositions and methods for treating periodontal disease."

The patent was filed on Sept. 25, 2023, under Application No. 18/372,656.
